Awards Provided By James Cook University Brisbane
High Distinction (HD) Academic Award
JCU Brisbane recognises hardworking students by rewarding them
with the High Distinction bursary. International students who
achieve a High Distinction for their subject receive a $A1,000
bursary award, which is placed towards their tuition
fee. Domestic students receive a $A250 award. The HD
bursary is only available at JCU
Brisbane, and only applicable to students enrolled in a
full degree program.
The $A1,000 or $A250 is credited against subsequent subjects at JCU
Brisbane. As the HD Academic Award is credited against future
trimester's fees, as of 1 July 2012, any High
Distinctions received in a student's final trimester of study
will not carry a bursary.
Currently, there is no limit to the number of HD bursaries awarded
each trimester. Should we, in the future, limit the number of HD
bursaries awarded each trimester, then the available HD bursaries
will be awarded on academic merit.
Students will not receive a High Distinction Academic Award bursary under any one of the following circumstances:
- failure to make full payment for ALL enrolled subjects by the appointed Census date for that trimester. Census date is usually five weeks after the commencement of lectures (see Important Dates)
- for subjects for which they are on fee waiver bursaries, scholarships, exchange programs or cross institutional studies
- for any subject being repeated at JCU Brisbane
- if the student is found guilty of "Academic Misconduct" in any subject e.g. cheating, plagiarism
- for any subject, if the student withdraws prior to the completion of their enrolled course
- for any subject studied in a MBA weekend program/block mode format
- transfer to another JCU campus
Tuition Fee Bursary
JCU Brisbane may sometimes offer tuition fee bursaries to international students enrolled in a full degree program.
Students awarded with these tuition fee bursaries need to note that they will not be eligible to these bursaries in any one of the following circumstances:
- withdrawal from a nominated course, or movement to a shorter or cheaper program
- withdrawal from JCU Brisbane prior to completion of their enrolled course
- transfer to another JCU campus
- failure to make full payment for ALL enrolled subjects by the appointed Census date for each trimester. Census date is usually five weeks after the commencement of lectures (see Important Dates)
- if the student is found guilty of "Academic Misconduct" in any subject eg. cheating, plagiarism
Bursaries are only redeemable in the final trimester of studies.
Corporate Discount
Eligible applicants who enrol in any postgraduate programs offered at JCU Brisbane, and whose course is paid for by their corporate entity, will receive a 20% corporate discount off the standard price of the course.
If the student leaves his/her employment before the completion of a program, all subsequent fees will revert to the standard pricing, unless alternative arrangements have been made in accordance with JCU Brisbane policy.
James Cook University Brisbane reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time without notice.
